ESTABLISHMENT OF THE TEACHING RESOURCE CENTER FAM 560
FSD 94-14 I. Purpose and Goals. Within the general framework of the Faculty Professional Development program (FSD 88-11.R1), the purpose of the Teaching Resource Center is to establish a formal structure to promote and support innovation in undergraduate and graduate classroom instruction. The goals shall include the following:

III. Organizational Structure. The activities of the Teaching Resource Center shall be directed by a faculty member appointed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs following appropriate consultation with the Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate. The Director shall report to the Dean of Graduate Studies, Research, and Faculty Development. JUSTIFICATION: Instructional innovation efforts on the campus of CSUSB have traditionally consisted of a series of formal and informal seminars and programs designed to promote and facilitate improvement in teaching. The Teaching Resource Center is intended to support all such endeavors within a more organized and planned structure as well as to keep faculty members abreast of the latest developments in higher education teaching. It will replace the Teaching Excellence component of the Faculty Professional Development program and as such will function in close coordination with the Instructional Quality Committee. (See Attachment #1 of FSD 88-11.R1 and FSD 88-12). The Teaching Resource Center will require appropriate office space, equipment, and a small operating budget. It is expected that the Director would be given assigned time to carry out duties.
